Habitat

Found primarily in old-growth native forests, including beech and podocarp-broadleaf forests, from sea level up to approximately 1,400 meters elevation.

Diet

Their diet primarily consists of seeds (especially beech, *Nothofagus*), fruits, flowers, nectar, leaves, and buds, supplemented significantly by invertebrates, particularly during the breeding season.
